It’s been a few hours since I was practically stuffed into this pod. Yes, I volunteered for this project, but last minute jitters are something that I oftenwww.onedoor.cc experience when it comes to enclosed spaces. I wasn’t given any sedatives so the only form of comfort I was given was the rocking sensation I sense from within the pod. Like I was in a womb. One that was constructed from metal and other synthetic materials to keep me from being scorched alive when I get propelled from the Earth’s atmosphere into the heavens. Also, what’s keeping me sane was the pocket watch I managed to sneak onboard. It’...sqnone door

    No Blood From a Turnip

Writers are constantly warned to avoid clichés. This short story is a spoof, deliberately packed with twisted clichés used in unique and literal ways to move the plot forward, a parody on the trite, but always popular themes of vampires and time travel. No Blood From a Turnip Count Galilea wrapped his cloak about his shoulders, reveling in the storm-tossed night. Here, the remaining light diffused into graphite, etching the cave’s disfigurements, like pockmarks on a tortured cheek. In sombreness, I caressed the blistering wounds. But no! As their ruptured edges pierced my heart, there was a gleam, as if cast by an eye....sqnone door

Beyond the Event Horizon With Snyder and Tompkins

Snyder awoke to Tompkins sitting on his face for the third time this week. A year ago he would have been livid, but by now the resignation had set in. He pushed Tompkins off with a firm thrust of his hand.-"Dammit Tompkins! Of all places..."He trailed off as he attempted to resume his sleep. Tompkins made no reply. Snyder attempted to roll over and resume his rest, but he was awake now. Eyes bloodshot he rolled out of his cot, headed toward the coffee machine while Tompkins followed. They both sat on a bench in front of the large window, really the only window on the ship. The silence wa...sqnone door
