Congratulations! Your first book got published. That writing workshop was memorable. Ten aspiring writers met every Monday. Sitting at a round table, sharing feedback about your stories. There was another incentive; the best author from the workshop would win a publishing deal. But you never thought that your path to publishing would walk this murderous way.You all met at a historical, two-floor building in Venice, California. An idyllic garden with sunflowers, fruit trees, and native flora surrounded the building. You thought this was the perfect place to get inspired. And to make things even...I0gone door

    Fresher Air

I stare at the broken-up dark black spot on the parking lot under my feet. Pavement that's been abused and fixed by vehicles so often that it’s become a patchwork parking lot. She was my high school sweetheart and I fell for her hard when I first saw her. I fell harder than someone falling down a metal stairs case. I knew right then and there that I was going to marry her. I was far too nervous to talk to her,...I0gone door

    Flickering Fixtures

There was flickering everywhere, inside and outside. The lighting just as annoying as the indecisive light bulbs that line the ceiling. Sitting in the dark theater, Meredith thought about the possibility that her husband might show himself. The very thought of him strolling down this scene was about as appetizing as the butter in her popcorn, which according to Meredith, wasn’t appetizing at all.She had her drink in one hand and her partner in crime’s hand in the other. She looked at him in lust and disgust, but he understood better than her how she liked her popcorn. He gave her a sense of d...I0gone door
