You know what they say about people that gaze too long at the clouds? Or is that the sun? As with everything in my life that I become too obsessed with, I wanted to shoot the clouds. Those white, luminous particles floating in the heavens with no clear direction. They just go where the wind takes them. It’s downright disrespectful. I don’t like the implication that there’s something in nature without a clwww.onedoor.ccear form.Sometimes they look like dinosaurs. Sometimes they look like Aunt Sally. Sometimes they look like a Joan Miro painting that makes me feel things I’d rather not go into. But they’re n...ZTIone door

    Futures

There is a slash of peachy, baby pink across the lake, speckled with yellow droplets of morning light. Nicole's been sitting here since 4am, and Thomas almost as long - she hauled him out of bed because she needed the company to take her mind off their first day of college.  Now, they sit on the brown grass, still in their pyjamas, feet dipping into the lake water as it sloshes up the bank. It didn’t make much of a...ZTIone door

Alone and isolated in my glassed-in Covid pod, I felt like a guppy in an aquarium-and an especially ugly and grungy guppy, since I had staggered into Emergency three nights before with my oxygen at 82, wearing a pair of jeans, a hastily donned sweater in a clashing shade of blue, and no makeup. I once read that mother guppies sometimes eat their young, but no self-respecting guppy matriarch would have seen me as appetizing at that point. I was on a catheter up m...ZTIone door
