The glass begins to fog as he breathes on it; taking his hand he wipes it away. There in the display is the white leather overcoat Carol had admired, she hadn't said anything but he had noticed. Digging into his jeans he takes out his wallet; not enough he thought. He worked for $500.00 a week but most of that ended up going toward living expenses. The jacket cost $4000.00 but soon Christmas would be there. THE MIDAS TOUCH

I came to the big apple with a plan, and a man. The plan was solid; the man, not so much. His sister warned me he couldn’t handle freedom. Without someone to constantly rein him in, he would self-destruct. She said it just seemed to be the way he was wired. All that money you earned and spent on yourself – not a care for me or my need for it to help ...Pshone door

If someone had told me I would be standing in front of his statue wearing the same hat giving a speech to the nation, I would have laughed, but reality is stranger than fiction.Side note: by law, my father's statue is the tallest structure in the capital city. Which is fine by me because I build most of my structures underground.I face the crowd of seventy thousand and begin the speech, peppered with long pauses for gravitas. “...Pshone door
