  • Lights Out!

Saturday’s are always festive in Hammerville. People flood the streets, enjoying the sun-lined beaches and eating from the local food trucks.  The small city isn’t but 10 miles long and the population is less than the average town. This Saturday is the busiest Saturday of the year. It’s Hammer Day, the day where the stories of the town are told by campfire. The day was young and street vendors were everywhere. They were selling candles, rosaries and other assorted jewelry. The food was the main attraction. There were 17 food trucks lined down the beach, each with a main dish. There were too ...b5Qone door

    The Silver Birch

A silver birch tree has an average lifespan of fifty to sixty years, but can live up to a hundred years old. A tree that lives old enough can watch a whole community change, watch a young child turn into an elderly citizen, and see the deforestation of hundreds of trees to know its own demise. Interesting thing is though, Hal Karlson really wasn’t that old. Not young, certainly- his days of fun and recklessness were far in the peripheral, so much so he could ...b5Qone door

    Operation Clean-Sweep

Am I crazy? That's what everyone says. Even my so-called friends, if you can call them that. They've avoided me like the plague ever since I told them. Why? What did I tell them? I can't remember. It might have something to do with my current predicament. Humph. Yup. I can hear the chorus of 'I told you so's' as I strain to see...wherever it is I am. Can't see much in the dark. Just a faint crack of light seeping in a tiny window. A basement window, I think. I'd go check it out, but I can't move. For some reason, I feel like laughing. Seriously. Maybe they're right. I must be losing it. My head...b5Qone door
