    "How lucky I am..." thought Claire as she was gazing into the subdued yellow and orange flames of the fire, a blanket over her legs and her face beaming.To the left of the fireplace, a single bed hugged one corner of the room.     If you were to stand by my side right now and look out from the lightly rotting cabin window, over the forest that’s been blawww.onedoor.ccnketed in snow, you might think this place to be peaceful. Maybe even idyllic. You might feel warm and safe, sitting in that old rocking chair in front of the crackling fire. Paired with a warm mug of tea and that old tartan blanket thrown over your lap. You might watch the fresh snowflakes falling down, dancing through the air. Or, you might even grab a good book and really curl up in this little log cabin, miles from anywhere and anyone.     It has been five days since the war had begun. I do not know what the word “war” means, but I am too scared to ask Da, because he seems so sad all the time. I wonder what makes him feel that way.The power was cut off permanently and Da says it won’t come back anytime soon. It might be for the best, because then the night would be less scary and my sisters and I wouldn’t have to risk seeing the bleeding people on the television.
