Something They’d Never Told MeThere’d been an accident on the motorway, and I was even later than I thought I’d be. Sunday lunch was sacrosanct and if we didn’t make it on time, boy did Mum give us a thrashing. A verbal beating, I mean, because Mum, a tiny wisp of a woman, couldn’t even kill a fly, unless she talked it to death. I need to get out of here. The camel grabs the bottle out of my hand with its mouth. It places the bottle on the ground and flips the cap on with its snout. “Just save...0kDone door

    Boxed

Doran was a latchkey kid before it became popular, walking alone to and from school as though danger didn’t follow her everywhere. An only child, she grew accustomed to herself quickly. By the age of seven, many of her summer afternoons were spent twirling in circles until her brain became muddled with thoughts of her existence and who she truly was underneath her skin and bones. The dizzying thoughts she felt separate from her tiny body were a relief from feeling lonely. Always wanting to connect with what was inside, Doran embraced uncomfortable emotions, wondering if her soul was reaching...0kDone door
