The Pranksta#5803
I hate pranks.I hate anything to do with laughter. I hate fun.And I hate April fools’ day. This is precisely why my plans to avoid being pranked on April 1st were going to come alive in exactly 10 hours, 11 minutes and 4 seconds. It is time for April fools-less day to arrive. I didn’t go to school or anywhere today, I spent the whole day planning for tomorrow, April 1st, April fools’ day. Last year, my friends had pranked me by putting Charlie’s pet rat in my school bag. The year before that, they mixed worms with my spaghetti. But the worst thing they had ever done was when they spattered hone...
The Devil Knew Me First
I didn’t know that I had been praying for the Devil. The first time I saw him, we did not meet. He slipped into my car's backseat and to say that I had seen him was a bit of an overstatement. Really, I could only catch glimpses of him out of the corner of my eyes. When I turned my head to face forthright he would disappear like smoke during the fourth of July barbecues of my childhood. She remembers him telling her that he applied to Monterey Bay, but didn’t get in. Instead, he’d be going to San Diego State University. Sure it hurt like hell to say goodbye that August morn...
GARDENING IN A COLD CLIMATE
November 5: Today is the first really cold day of winter. Some snow had fallen; it was a heavy, wet snow. But up until now, we have been experiencing usually warm temperatures for the season. If I had known; I could have left some of my garden to continue growingOctober 21: I finally got the garden all cleared of any remaining plants. I harvested the last of my Yukon Gold potatoes. Even with eating fresh potatoes during the season, I’ll have harvested enough to last at least until Christmas. Thank goodness I had no problems with any sort of potato bug, like last year. I did receive a...
