The Body
That summer in 1970, the one I turned eleven, was the summer we found the body. The three of us,www.onedoor.cc my cousins and I, have never talked of it since, as we swore we never would. When we’re together the secret we’d sworn to keep, lay there between us, pulled tight, ready to burst at any moment. The only place off-limits - the Frank’s pond. The summer started the same as all the others before, but nothing w...
A place of shadow
A massive place, this historical building. It was originally owned by the church, now it is a boarding school for naughty boys. A place where parents can safely ignore their responsibility to their offspring, and then, later in the child’s life, blame the school for all his faults, crimes and whatnot. The main block has 2 floors and an attic level, converted to bedrooms for unruly boys. Each floor has 6 to 8 rooms. It is situated in the English countryside, not far from the border of Wales, in Herefordshire. The surrounds are 26 acres of wooded boyish pleasure, hilly paths to slide down, bracken...

Most nights there was a hefty cover charge to gain entrance to the Attic, but of course Beck had booked and paid for the entire bar for the night...
Peachcroft Woods
“Go on, get it. What a baby!” said Perks. “Go on then you get it,” said Gums. “I’m not getting it, you kicked it, you fetch it!” ordered Smithy. I looked at my friends. No one budged. Myself included. We all lived on a council-run estate, some of our families bought their home, some chose to rent. It was a great little place to grow up in. But, a change was coming for us. Next term we would be moving to senior schools. But for now, we were enjoying our last summer holiday, all our mates at the same school. You entered our estate from the main road. There were twenty houses on each side of th...
