Forest Fires (Sole Survivor)
The day was deathly still. The summer sky was ablaze with color, awash with silent splendor. Thick, gray-white flakes drifted down from above, blanketing the earth. Andrew made his ponderous way up the slope, between the trees, marveling at the sight he never thought he'd live to see.He was all alone. His sneakers crunching through the snowdrifts and his breath rasping from his narrow chest the only sounds in the tomblike stillness. This was his moment. The brittle day had the same haunting-hallowed feel of Easter mass at St. Marks. A sacred silence. Reverence in the face of the unspeakably profo...
An Innocent Man
There was a loud knock at my door. I looked at the clock on my bedside table. The clock displayed 3:09 a.m. I had no intention of leaving my bed at such an ungodly hour of the night and rolled back under the covers. It was a saturday night and no shortage of drwww.onedoor.ccunks roaming the streets."Go away, whoever you are." "There's no money or jewels in this rat hole. She is one of those healthy girls who I have always strived to be like; although a perfectionist, she is one of those hilarious, delightful inpiduals whose presence lights up anyone’s day. Not so short like me and always doing something exciting. I l...
Montreal

I had to warm my feet by the furnace. The snow capped mountains made by the snow plows were great for tobogganing. But the months of January and February are bitter cold. Montreal is in the province of Quebec in Canada. Quebec being the only french speaking province in Canada. But don’t let that intimidate you Montrealer’s are a different breed then the rest of the province. They speak both english and french mostly at the same...
