    The last person Brett would have liked to go on vacation with was his wife.  But, as she tended to remind him, they were reaching their twentieth anniversary and he’d had more than sufficient time to ‘pack his bags and take off without a note like a fucking coward.’She was right, of course.     GreenDuring the drive up the mountain for my first day on a cush job, gnarly cliffs were underscored by lush shades of olive, emerald, lime, avocado, and jade. In the foreground were sloping hills, like tops of a bunch of leprechaun-green balloons. Behind them, rugose rugged mountains looked as if they’d been sprinkled with powdered sugar.     The Bad Breakup

     “Cindy, I’ve… well, this is really hard to say, but I think we’re both in an abusive relationship, and... we need to end it.” Slowly, Cindy put down her cup. It seemed to titter and the Starbucks, usually so quiet up there in the front, where four cute, bucket seats were grouped around a low, oaken coffee table, was filled with a faint clatter, a porcelain crescendo.     Green symbolizes that which I covet most: wealth. Green is also lucky. I have money, but the need for more is insatiable. I crave prominence and distinction. And, with a bit of luck here and there, money always seems to make its way to me. Though I must admit, money is merely the meat, it is the envy of others, the sauce.   So, I chose green. Manifestation. Pickle-green, because I didn’t want to stray too far away from the dependable grey tones of my five-figure collection. Ah, and what a fine choice. The impeccably crisp, three-piece, tailored suit complemented by my gold watch made me look d...IIOone door
