College and Covid
During the course of those 9 months I was still planning on moving to LA, the boys decided to come with me. I was going to be in the dorms, but the three of us, with the pets got a 2 bedroom apartment. We all got jobs, and life made sense again. Oh, and Carly got married! I almost forgot! We all flew out to her house, and crashed there. All 3 families, and now with Carly getting married 4、 We all loved each other and had decided to move the wedding since the homeroom drama. And since we were distance learning, we never missed anything. Worked out great. Of course, the drama seemed to follow u...
The Bully
It's been a while since I've been in detention, but it's exactly as I remember. Black marker smudges clutter the whiteboard. The clock on the wall is running two minutes behind, even though it's digital. There is still the empty hamster cage by the sink. Mr. Wheeler, my warden, sits behind his desk and adjusts his posture to accommodate his big belly. Some things never change."Come take these," he tells me when I enter, pointing to the edge of the desk. The flame shows the truth inside you, each time it dances for you, it shows how you feel, take in each dance with a message. My eyes began to freeze but my legs k...
The fugue state
The air smelled like fire and incense, imbued with something magical and lost to time. Taking lungfuls of it made the edges of my vision blur, and everything seemed right. The tented stalls, the lights, the giggling drunken women who passed me. All of the things that seemed touristy and tacky when I had arrived suddenly seemed perfect. I see a man with one eye, and a woman with a serpent's tongue. But I dismiss them, little glitches in my broken mind. Of course, this would be it, this was the only place I could ever retrieve what I was missing. It's funny, people always say they can't remember...
