This work was written in honor of National Suicide Prevention Week (Sept. 4th - 10th, 2022).***The familiar scent of ramyeon boiling on the stove wakes him up.It’s the plain, blank ceiling that greets his eyes first, the one that Sam hasn’t been a stranger to for the past few years in the apartment complex shared by their band. The sofa underneath him feels different – softer, covered by leather instead of the cheap, faded fabric; he doesn’t remember them ever changing the sofa in the living, or maybe they did? Maybe some changes were made when he was absent from their band performance? It does...fjQone door

    The Theatre

Steve yawned and stretched his arms above his head. He gave a small shiver, frowning at the feeling of the icy breeze leaking into the old theatre. Adam, his friend, sat sleepily next to him. “This movie has been brilliant,” Adam said sarcastically, as the end credits rolled down the screen, “but I’d be keen for it to be over”. It also provided a calming respite from the lingering combat memories of his military service to his country, years prior. Living on the corn and tobacco farm inherited from his late parents, Dan worked tirelessly to maintain a tradition passed down over six generations of his family, but rising costs made each...fjQone door

    Saxum and Alex

"I've always loved turtles." He said as he let the animal crawl out of his arms and onto the grass. It settled in a puddle and opened its mouth in response to Alex's treatment. "Does that mean it likes me?" Sax was busy picking rocks from the ground. "I think it's thirsty." Sax showed Alex the stone he found. "This one looks like pyrite, which is odd for a forest to have." It stunk like eggs. He liked it, and he put it in his fanny pack. He picked up another rock. "This rock is metamorphic, but I don't know what it is. I do know that this stone is made of, like, lava that cooled...fjQone door
