There is something about a still ocean. You have this intrinsic understanding that such a large body of water can’t be static. It has to move, it has to live, but sometimes before dawn when the wind has dropped away and warm air feels thick enough to carve with a machete, the ocean is as frozen as the surface of an ice cube.
